Chrysotile Asbestos-cement sheets manufacturingfactory of Sturdy Industries Ltd, at Derabasi, Patiala,Punjab have been studied by the Industrial Toxicology Research Centre (ITRC) Lucknow. The company is part of the Chemplast Group of Companies.The study found prevalence of Chrysotile Asbestos fibers in the environment. The study establishes the hazards posed due to lethal fibers. But it fails to take note of WHO & ILO recommendations seeking elimination of asbestos fibers of all kinds.
